To Our Valued Members:
Amidst the global crisis that is COVID-19, we find ourselves in unprecedented circumstances. No business or individual will go unaffected by this pandemic and we understand that everyone is trying to navigate the situation as best they can. We would first like to emphasize that now, more than ever, we want to support you and prove our commitment to the beloved community we’ve built over the last few years. During a time of panic and disruption, it is immensely important that we focus on what we can control rather than what we cannot. Our priority has always been, and will continue to be, improving the health and well-being of our clients even during these challenging times. We encourage you to maintain a routine, keep setting goals, and resist faltering during periods of uncertainty.
As of right now, the Connecticut state government has mandated the closure of all gyms and fitness studios to the public until further notice. This is mostly due to the nature of the business in that it hosts many people in confined spaces. UP Fitness holds a much higher standard of cleanliness than most fitness clubs, but we are required by our governor’s order to remain closed during this time. In terms of what that means for us as a small business, we would like to address the following:
We want to keep helping you work towards your goals. Our space is simply that, a gathering area where we collaborate to motivate and guide you towards conquering your ambitions. It is a beautiful space that brings many of us a sense of comfort and grounding during our days, but it is not the heart of what makes our business a success—that comes from our knowledgeable and dedicated team, our concepts, and systems. We are lucky to live in a day and age where there are many alternative options to hosting you in our facility. We will work creatively around the current limitations to make sure that you can continue to get a top quality level of coaching even from your home. Already we have developed plans for tele-workout classes and sessions and are preparing to rent out equipment so that all of our members have options. Now is the time to prioritize your health and we are prepared to accommodate you.
In terms of memberships, we understand that some of you are curious about how we will handle fees. Please understand that our business model revolves around those monthly dues you committed to in your contracts. If everyone—or even a sizable portion of our members—cancels all at once, UP Fitness simply will not exist when this is all said and done. For that reason and in an effort to be fair, we are working tirelessly to expand our options to you so that you can still get the same sense of value from your membership. We are very excited to diversify our offerings and believe these will be quality lasting benefits for the future.
As a token of appreciation to our members and to further demonstrate our commitment to your fitness and health, we would also like to offer you an additional digital membership pass that you may gift to someone who is not already an UP Fitness member. Our goal is to provide a substantial amount of online classes that allow you to continue making progress. Additionally, our programming continues to be the most valuable option as it allows us to write you custom workouts and offer at-home equipment packages from our facility so that we can continue to train you virtually as if you were here in the gym.
Obviously, this is an ever-evolving situation and we will continue to adapt our plan for the greater good of our community and staff. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Stay UP and stay healthy.
As COVID-19 continues progress, we have decided it is in the best interest of the community that we will close on Monday 3/16. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on other schedule and operation changes as the week goes on. We are offering a virtual bodyweight HIIT class at noon on Monday 3/16 and plan on adding more of these tele-workouts to our schedule so our members and visitors have options during this time of social-distancing. You can sign up for this on the UP Fitness Mobile App.
Stay healthy and safe, everyone!
Although we are remaining OPEN amid COVID-19, we will be restricting use of the space to members-only and potentially adjusting our hours due to limited staff availability.
We understand not everyone is comfortable visiting our space at this time. For those who want to remain at home, we invite you to join us for our first ever tele-workout on Monday 3/16 at 12pm. Sign up on the UP Fitness App and receive a Zoom link to participate in a live 30 Minute Bodyweight HIIT Class!

To Our Valued Community,
With our top priority being the health and safety of our members, visitors, and staff, we are closely monitoring the global and local impact of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and following the recommendations of our city, state, and federal agency.
On the continued recommendation of the Connecticut State Department of Health, there have been no major changes to our regular schedule or daily operation. We will continue to monitor this rapidly changing situation and work hard to keep our facility clean and comfortable for all. We encourage everyone to respect others by following appropriate health guidelines and ask that you assist us by taking some personal responsibility if you continue to visit and use the space.
Below are recommended habits on how to prevent the spread of infectious illnesses and proper etiquette to consider:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, with at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently all touched objects and surfaces including any equipment you use.
- Do not leave dirty towels or clothes out in the open in the locker rooms and promptly place used towels in the provided laundry bins.
You can find more information available at the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.
We greatly appreciate your attention and cooperation as we work together to protect the health and safety of all our members, visitors, and staff. We will notify you of any updates via the UP Fitness App and here on our website.
