Slam Balls: There are so many benefits to doing explosive/power training. Slam balls allow anyone to do it in an effective and safe way. Whether it’s an overhead ball slam or a squat to throw, the explosive nature allows you to tap into type two muscle fibers in the upper body with minimal stress.

Agility Ladders: One key to function is to be able to move quickly, whether you’re an athlete or just looking to stay healthy. Especially through the aging process, the muscle necessary to move quickly with stability declines. By doing speed and agility drills, you can counteract the aging process, increase the heart rate with minimal impact, and develop your athletic capabilities.

Single Leg Squat Roller: The single legged squat roller is a piece of equipment most people wouldn’t necessarily recognize. By elevating one foot for the split squat, you’re forcing the front leg to do most of the function and increasing overall stability. Isolating the sides increases the symmetry from one side to the other and decreases the risk of injury.

Bands: While they may look simple, these small bands are highly effective at making sure you’re activating the correct muscles. Especially when it comes to glute training, these bands are very useful. By using during a squat, glute bridge, or lateral walk, you’re forcing the glutes to work which helps support the low back and take pressure off the knees. Go on instagram and you’ll even see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson use these to squat!

Foam Rollers: In terms of recovery, foam rolling has become a staple in the functional fitness realm. They are a great tool for soft tissue work, which helps both with warming up the body and enhancing recovery. They have also been associated with pain reduction and increased range of motion.

Tubing: The elasticity of the tubing forces you to stabilize and engage the entire body, which is the essence of functional training. With each color being a different resistance, it’s very simple to adjust and find a resistance that works for you. Also, being that they are secured to a wall, they are safe to work with for everyone.

Rowers: Our Concept 2 rowers offer an effective, low impact, total body cardiovascular workout. While you can simply hop on and start rowing and it will track your session, there are also several programmed options if you would like to gather more detailed metrics. The rowers are a great option for someone with orthopedic issues that don’t allow them to do high-impact training, but don’t be fooled, these rowers can give a killer workout!
